COURSE OUTLINE:

• This course provides a comprehensive overview of Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement Systems (ERCES) and their role in modern building safety and code compliance.
• The training will:
• Introduce the fundamentals of ERCES and applicable codes and standards, including IFC Section 510, NFPA 1225, and relevant portions of NFPA 72
• Explain when ERCES is required, including adoption triggers, AHJ expectations, and jurisdictional considerations
• Define system components and architecture, including BDAs, DAS, donor antennas, and signal paths
• Discuss design considerations, including signal strength requirements, grid testing, survivability levels, and installation best practices
• Review testing and commissioning procedures, including acceptance testing, annual inspections, and documentation requirements
• Clarify monitoring and integration requirements with fire alarm systems and other life safety systems
• Explore common challenges and pitfalls in ERCES implementation and how to avoid them
• Provide real-world examples and case studies to reinforce concepts
